HP DesignJet 50PS

The Designjet 50PS is specifically aimed at pre-press applications, emulating the output of an offset lithograph printing press. A Heidelberg software RIP provides the proofing control required by pre-press professionals. The main aim is to cut the approval cycle for printing from days to hours.

HP Publicity says:

"Match offset printing accurately through automatic Pantone Calibration(tm) and offset printing emulation (Euroscale, SWOP, DIC, and TOYO), as well as ICC profiles for Macintosh and Windows.

The pre-press RIP with Heidelberg technology provides advanced colour management capabilities, enabling you to do up to 16 colour separations (including CMYK), spot colour editing, extensive layout management (tiling, registration marks, crop marks, slug lines), job management (job status, printer status, user management, security, etc)

Supports Adobe PostScript 3TM, PDF, EPS, TIFF, TIFF/IT (P1 Contone) and DCS 2.0 (from application)."

The Remote Proofing Files (RFP) can be shared with other users of 10PS, 20PS and 50PS printers over the Internet. Automatic closed-loop colour calibration for consistency between local and remote prints. The 50PS combines the printer mechanism used in a Business Inkjet 2600 and a substantial amount of pre-press software in one package.
