The DesignJet 750C is a moderately fast thermal inkjet colour printer - plotter. It's an old design but has a print resolution of 300x300 dpi colour sufficient to give "near photo quality" and 600dpi black. Its primary market was for line drawings, layouts and illustrations and it will still serve those purposes well. It's intended role at manufacture was "corporate workgroup" but it is too slow for that role now.

PostScript is avaialble either as an add-on SIMM and ROM for the 750C or built in with the 755C 36 inch models. Apparently the result is not identical, the 755CM has other optimisations for a role primarily aimed at graphic arts rather than CAD.

The 755CM comes with 75MB RAM, a PostScript SIMM and an EtherTalk/ LoaclaTalk MIO card - its primarily intended for Apple Mac users. It also has a Color Management Kit with Agfa Fototune, Pantone, Kodak and Adobe profiles for colour matching.
The DesignJet 700 is a monochrome version (C4705A/B, C4706A/B).
Improvements in printhead design and processing ability make the 750 series markedly faster than predecessors like the DesignJet 650. Although printers in this series look similar HP did not provide an upgrade path.
Control:
The control panel has a 2 line x 20 character VFD display. (2x30 on later models) "ColorSmart" Colour Management.
Duty Cycle:
20 pages per day A0 plots. 12 pages per day A0 image prints. The front panel will say "Status: Maintenance Advised" when it has printed 20,000 pages or made 4,500,000 passes of the cartridge carriage. The maintenance procedure is given in the service manual.
Print Speed:
Mono draft prints to A1 size in about 2 minutes. Colour line drawings in 4 minutes. Images in about 10 minutes.
Print Resolution:
True 600 dpi black. 300 dpi colour. HP COlourSmart optimization.
Paper Handling:
Sheet and roll feed, automatic cutter, output bin
Memory:
8MB as standard, 72MB maximum. The 755CM shipped with 72MB installed
Interface:
Centronics Parallel, RS232-C Serial.

Optional network print server using MIO slot. Automatic I/O switching.

Consumables:
Its worth noting that the colour inks used in the 750C only guarantee 9 months of light-fastness. Today's "Vivera" inks claim 80 years.
