HP Laserjet 4P AND 4MP
HP LaserJet, 4P (C2005A) and 4MP (C2040A)
These printers are predecessors to the 5P and 6P. The 4P was aimed as a low cost small business printer
The 4L and 4ML aimed at very low cost personal use and had no control panel
- LaserJet 4L - C2003A - PX Engine 300 dpi
- LaserJet 4ML - C2015A -PX version with Apple LocalTalk and PostScript level 2.
The 4P and 4MP have an LCD control panel like that on the 4Si
- LaserJet 4P - C2005A - PX-II Engine at 600 dpi, 2MB
- LaserJet 4MP - C2040A -PX-II version with Apple LocalTalk and PostScript level 2.
Both printers are based on the Canon "PX" engine. The same engine was used in the HP 5P and 6P with a faster processor giving them much more power.
These printers are obsolescent and HP no longer supply parts. However there are users and there is no specific reason other than low printing speeds to replace the printer.

The basic distinguishing feature of the 4P is that it has an LCD control panel.

Copy Abilities:
These printers were too slow and had too little memory to have had a copier variant.

Paper Handling:
Paper Handling: A4 paper path. 100 sheets in multifunction tray. 250 sheets in the tray under the printer body

Default output to the face-down tray on top of the printer.
Duplex:
Auto Duplex was not available for these printers.
