HP RM1-5250 Top Cover for HP P4014 series Printers.

The HP RM1-5250 is the Top Cover for use with the HP Laserjet P4014 Printer.

RM1-5250 is only used for the P4014, the P4015 and P4515 take a different part RM1-4552 which allows space for the larger cartridge CC364X.

The top cover is a big grey-white plastic assembly that includes the cartridge door but not the accessory cover RC2-2459 or the control panel RM1-5060.

The top cover and cartridge door are quite robustly made but there have been a series of revisions to the part number, possibly implying desiggn improvements.

Large plastic assemblies are usually replaced rather than repaired although a broken one probably can be patched with any cement capable of handling ABS (acetone containing glues will temporarily soften it).

Icecat says this part has one short product code RM1-5250-040CN and one GTIN (EAN/UPC)5711045446764

As well as the short code RM1-5250 the part is likely to be known as RM1-5250-000 and RM1-5250-000CN as well as the other variants listed above. this suggests it is manufactured by Canon on contract for HP

RM1-5250 is only used for the P4014. Using it on other printers in the series will block use of the large CC364X cartridges.

There are a few pages here with no price, one page with no stock - no helpful blogs on this part. There are a couple of irrelevant pages . All the rest in the list were merely vendors giving no more information than found in the HP brochure.

Supply Situation

This type of part is usually made by a single contract manufacturer for a specific device. It is large, complex and has few uses so it is unlikely anyone will make anything compatible. There are therefore two sources of supply:

  • HP who can charge whatever they like for them. Remember that they had to put some production aside in 2008-9 to fulfil any demand now, and that demand might have been quite difficult to forecast.
  • Second hand parts from scrap printers. Supply will be intermittent until printers like these are about 6-10 years old. After a few years it will be non-existent. Brokers selling this material are unlikely to sell things for pennies.

The part is listed by a couple of distributors but they don't hold stock. We think demand for the part will be very low.

We may be able to source this part when required. The price is about £45.

These are guidelines, our prices change with distribution lists - see the catalog. Stock numbers indicate there is not much call for the part.
