Lexmark E460dn Laser Printer Family

A4 mono laser printers with an automatic duplex unit and networking built in. These printers have an engine print reolution of 1200 dpi which Lexmark say gives "2400 quality".

The E460 is a business-oriented version of the 4513 print engine also used by the E260 and E360.

Features of the E460 are a bigger LCD screen making setup and maintenance easier, a large cartridge giving lower running costs and an option for wireless networking. There are other refinements like a bigger memory and PDF printing.

4-line 160 x 64 pixel All Points Addressable (APA) backlit gray-scale display. The display should cut the time needed for setup and maintenance tasks.

Duty Cycle:

Maximum Monthly Duty Cycle: 80,000 pages per month. Recommended montly page volume is 1,500 to 10,000 pages.

Print Speed:

Print speed depends on the complexity of a page and is usually improved by adding memory. The E460 comes with 64MB base memory - sufficient for all but the most demanding A4 duplex print jobs. Memory can be expanded to 576MB.

Print Resolution:

Print resolution for all the 4513 engine printers is 1200x1200dpi.

Lexmark say "1200 Image Quality, 1200 x 1200 dpi, 2400 Image Quality, 600 x 600 dpi " in the manufacturers publicity PDFs. The engine native resolution seems to be 1200x1200 dpi.

Consumables:

These printers use a seperate toner and photoconductor. this approach should give lower printing costs.

Average standard page yields are given in accordance with ISO/IEC 19752; a 5% page cover is assumed.

These printers take the small cartridges intended for the E260 and E360 printers. As usual with Lexmark there is a standard cartridge at a normal price for such things and a return program cartridge where Lexmark give a lower purchase price in return for the customer's agreement to return the cartridge to them for recycling.

The E260, E360 and E460 all take the same fuser, which isn't too surprising because there is only a marginal speed difference between models.
