Lexmark T522, T522n and T522dn

Lexmark T522 is an A4 mono laser printer intended for office use. Print speed is 25 pages per minute, faster than the T520(20ppm) but not as fast as the T620(30ppm)

The extra speed is based on a 250MHz processor and larger memory.

The engine is known as the 4520-001 in the T520 and as 4520-210 in the T522.

These printers were launched in June 2001, at the same time as the T620. They don't seem so distinct as to merit their own number series but that's a decision Lexmark made long ago.

Consumables:

The printer uses toner powder as part of it's operation. The toner is provided by a print cartridge that also contains the developer and photoconductive drum. Unlike HP all-in-one cartridges those from Lexmark do not contain the PreCharge roller, these are provided with the maintenance kit.

The Lexmark T520 ships with a 5,000-page starter cartridge.

Fuser:

The fuser in a laser printer adheres toner from the print cartridge to the page using a combination of heat and pressure. Toner must stick to the page and not to the fuser surface and to do this the fuser uses a non-stick material. Continual contact with hot toner and paper edges gradually wears away at the fuser so it ultimately needs replacing. The fuser used in the T522 should have a fairly long life of 250,000 pages. Using print-media or toner that is outside the printer's specifiactaion can shorten the life of the fuser.

Fusers are available as seperate parts. For convenience and to minimise service calls engineers often prefer to replace both the fuser and the other critical parts is the paper path, these are provided in a maintenance kit.

Maintenance Kit:

The printer will display the message "80 Scheduled Maintenance" after printing 250,000 pages. Print quality will decline and misfeeds become more common if the user continues to run the printer. The maintenance kit provides a fuser of the voltage specified, a transfer roller, charge roller and pick rollers. Service engineers normally inspect and clean the printer while these parts are fitted. After replacing the parts the technician resets the maintenance countto zero and this clears the message.

Whats in the box:

These printers no longer ship new. When they are available second hand or from refurbishers the expectation is likely to be that users will download any information they need from the Internet.

Printers may ship with a cartridge (usually refurbished) They are not likely to ship with a new fuser.

Warranty:

Originally shipped with a 1-year LexExpress warranty.

These printers are old and non will now have warranty cover.
