OKI Microline ML590 Elite and ML591 Elite 24-Pin Dot Matrix Printer

The OKI ML590 and 591 Elite are 24 pin dot matrix printers. The ML590 has an 80 column carriage and the ML591 has a 136 column wide carriage. Maximum print speed is 450 characters per second although the more useful 10 characters per inch printing is somewhat slower at 300 characters per second. Letter quality is at 100cps so a page will typically complete in under a minute.

The feature that sets the ML590 and 591 apart is automatic platen gap adjustment - the printer senses paper width and makes this setting itself. Manual platen gap setting often gives problems in the environment where dot matrix printers are used. Poor print, paper wrecks, ruined ribbons and damaged printheads are the result.
