Manufacturers Original Parts

A printer contains several hundred parts - a workgroup laser printer may have more than a thousand. Some parts of a printer might well be innovative - new RIP software or a better arrangement of paper feed rollers. For the most part printers aren't very novel and inventive, in fact the printer industry is full of high profile brandnames using other firms mechanisms.

The majority of laser printers are sold by companies that neither made nor designed the "engines". It is no great secret that Hewlett Packard normally use Canon engines.

Most of them may be made by the titular manufacturer. Some of them may be copyright. Most parts are not "original" in any meaningful sense.
