The Brother MFC 9860/9880 is a Multifunction Printer,Scanner and Fax for A4/Leter size paper based on the HL-1030/HL-1240 engine. It shares the same TN-6300 cartridge, and many of the spares are the same as well.

Speed Dials: Auto dialling of pre-stored number by entry of a two digit number (100 locations).

Group Dial: A combination of up to 6 one-touch and telephone index numbers can be stored on a one-touch key for broadcasting.

Telephone Index: An electronic, alphabetical listing of stored One-Touch, Speed Dial and Group numbers.

Chain Dialling: Allows the user to store parts for long dialling sequences in different One-Touch or Speed Dial locations.

Station ID: This is the stored information that appears on the top of faxed pages

Remote Maintenance: Allows a call centre to maintain a users fax machine without leaving the office.

FAX / TEL Switch: Automatic recognition of Fax and Telephone reception.

istinctive Ring Detection: A service purchased from the Telephone Company that allows two or more telephone numbers to share a single fixed line, the function enables the machine to provide a different ring tune for each number. Available only for UK and Denmark.

Speaker / Ring volume: 3 Steps and off.

Super Fine: Enables quality transmission and reception of very small print and line drawings.

Grey Scale: 64 levels.

Contrast: This allows the user to change the contrast between Auto / light / dark.

Delayed Timer: Up to 50.

Polling Type: Standard, Secure, Delayed and Sequential.

Quick-Scan (Memory Transmission): Reduce scanning times by scanning a fax into memory before sending. Approximately 2.8 seconds per page from ADF and 3.8 seconds per page from Flat, A4 Standard.

Page Memory: Up to 500 pages (ITU-Test ChartNo. 1/JBIG/Standard Resolution).

Broadcasting: Send the same fax message to up to 182 separate locations.

Manual Broadcasting: Allows the user to manually select a up to 50 one-touch or speed dials to send the same fax message to different locations.

Batch Transmission: Stores documents for the same location in the machines memory for transmission in a single call.

Auto Reduction: When receiving a single page document between 297mm and 350mm long the fax machine will automatically reduce the message to fit onto a single A4 sheet.

ECM ( Error Correction Mode ): Where machines share the ECM feature, detects errors during fax transmission and resends the page(s) of the document that had an error.

Dual Access: Allows the user to perform two different operations on the machine at the same time.

Fax Forwarding: Sends a fax received in memory to another pre-programmed fax number.

PC Fax: Send and receive faxes direct from you PC. (Transmit and receive applies to Windows only, Transmit only for iMAC).

Remote Access: Allows the user to remotely access their machine by using another touch tone phone.

Fax Retrieval: Allows the user to retrieve fax messages using another touch tone machine.

Internet fax: Available with option (NC-8100h).

Remote Set-up: Allows the user to set-up the MFC from their PC. E.g. quick dials,group dials, station ID, (For Windows only).
