Robust thermal inkjet with low cost per page. Four high capacity ink cartridges each with up to 1750 pages per colour. The BIJ 1000 is no longer available from HP although second user and refurbished units may be available. A suggested replacement is the HP OfficeJet Pro K550.


Control:

User friendly control panel with graphical icons gives the printer and ink cartridge status at a glance.


Fast print speeds of up to 23 pages per minute in black and up to 18 ppm in colour. (But as usual with inkjets down to 0.8ppm for colour photo 10x15). The speed of the printer will depend on that of the computer it is attached to.


Paper Handling:

A4 paper path Input tray: up to 150 sheets custom sizes 77x127 to 216x355mm (3x5 to 8.5x14 inches).

Output tray: up to 80 sheets

Media Size:76 x 127 to 216 x 355 mm A4 (210 x 297 mm) down to A6 (105 x 148 mm) and index cards. Media supported includes copier, premium inkjet, heavyweight, photo, cards and envelopes.

HP say: "no longer supported by HP as of Jun-19-2010, and service parts may not be available." If you need spares for this printer call us- there may be some in distribution.

Service:

Although these were built as business quality inkjets they suffer from the same common problems as other inkjets - basically ink dries in the heads to the point where it is very difficult to restore operation. This is likely after the printer has not been used for some time and is difficult to shift. Repair is then possibly uneconomic because of the price of a complete set of inks and heads.
