HP Business Inkjet 1200 Printer Series

Robust thermal inkjet with low cost per page. Four high capacity ink cartridges each with up to 1750 pages per colour. Aimed at "high productivity" individuals or small networked teams of up to 5 users. Affordable, easy-to-use and manage.

Five Models in the Series:

HP Business Inkjet 1200d - C8154A - duplex
HP Business Inkjet 1200dn - C8170A - duplex, network
HP Business Inkjet 1200dtn - C8155A - duplex, network, 2 tray
HP Business Inkjet 1200dtwn - C8156A - all options & wireless ethernet.

Features - similar to the 1100 series with low cost of ownership as an aim. Separate ink and printheads for cost efficiency. Cartridges deliver 1,750 pages in normal use.

These printers were on the market in 2004. Whilst laser printers commonly do last ten years or more that is not normal in an inkjet model. HP has said no longer supported by HP as of May-14-2011. If you want spares there may be some in distribution channels or in second user machines.

Paper path for A4 and similar size.

Tray 1: 150 sheets of plain paper, 22 envelopes. Paper - 60 to 145 g/m2, Custom-size media between 3 to 8.5 inches wide and 5 to 14 inches long (76.2 to 216 mm wide and 127 to 356 mm long)

Optional Tray 2: 250 Sheets, Tray 2 and duplex 60 to 90 g/m2.

Output Tray: Up to 80 sheets

Media Size: 76 x 127 to 216 x 355 mm A4 (210 x 297 mm) down to A6 (105 x 148 mm).

HP say “ no longer supported by HP as of May-14-2011, and service parts may not be available ” There may still be some parts in distribution.

Service:

There are limited repair and service options for these printers. For the most part they suffer the same faults as all inkjets - ink dries in the nozzles. This is likely after the printer has not been used for some time and is difficult to shift and possibly uneconomic because of the price of a complete set of inks and heads.

Options and Accessories:

Optional accessores won't be available due to the age of these printers. Accessories may be available in second-user or refurbished form.
