HP Color LaserJet CM1312 MFP

HP Color LaserJet CM1312 MFP (CC431A)

A low price colour multifunction printer working at 12ppm black, 8ppm colour. Printers can have copy, fax and photo-card slot abilities. Printing, scanning and copying are colour capable, fax is mono only.

There are two models:

CM1312MFP - CC430A- basic printer/copier with no ADF, memory slots, fax or network and only basic controls.
CM1312nfiMFP - CC431A - with Ethernet, a scanner with an ADF, fax capability memory card slots and a full control panel.

The CM1312 is the multifunction version of theCP1210/CP1518 print engine series. In turn that is based on the Canon LBP-5050.

Control:

Basic model has copy buttons and a 2 line display. The CM1312 has a 6.1cm (1.4 inch) colour graphical display. Help button gives easy to follow instructions. HP Toolbox, HP Web Jetadmin, HP Embedded Web Server. HP Easy Printer Care Software

Duty Cycle:

Up to 30,000 pages per month. Recommended monthly print volume 250 to 1,500 pages. A higher print volume will mean frequently buying new cartridges - the colours are rated for 1400 pages. Like most printers that are cheap to buy this will NOT be cheap to run if it is used heavily. For light duty in the home or a small office producing a few pages per day it gives laser-quality print and reliability at a low purchase price.

Print Speed:

For letter-sized paper up to 12 pages per minute black and white print. Up to 8 pages per minute colour print. A4 page ratings are the same. Instant -on fuser and scanner light gives fast job completion. First page out in under 32 seconds from ready mode. HP claim completion of a typical print job in under a minute.

Scanner Abilities:

Colour flatbed scanner with resolution of 1200 dpi optical resolution (up to 19,200 dpi enhanced). Colour 24 bit, Grey scale 256 levels. Copy sizes from 54x70 to 216x297mm (4x6 inches to 8.5x14 inches). The CM1312nfi has an Intergrated 50 sheet Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) which allows unattended copying, scanning and faxing. Remote scanning controlled by HP Director. Scanner is TWAIN compatible Version 1.9

Copy Abilities:

Up to 12 copies per minute with scan-once print many ability

Fax Abilities:

Speed 36.6 kbps. Memory for up to 250 pages. Resolutions supported are 203x98dpi, 203x196dpi and a Superfine at 300x300dpi with no halftone.

Print Resolution:

True resolution up to 600x600dpi for both black and colours. HP ImageREt 3600 and Coloursphere toner giving excellent page appearance.

Paper Handling:

A4 papers including glossy types in sizes from 76x127 to 216x356mm ( 3x5 inches up to 8.5x14 inches).

Processor:

Freescale ColdFire V5X at 450MHz embedded in ASIC

Memory:

CM1312 - 128MB.

CM1312nfi - 160MB. The CM1312nfi has photo memory card slots (CF, SD etc) to allow printing of images direct from the MFP.

Interface:

Hi-Speed USB 2.0 port gives simple connection to a nearby computer. Ethernet 10/100Base-T allows easy network sharing.

Network:

EIO Slot with JetDirect 615n installed ??

Print Languages:

HP PCL 6, HP PostScript level 3 emulation. HP PCL 5C emulation (?? odd but the PDF says so)

System Compatability:

PostScript support gives wide compatability. Software is for Microsoft Windows 2000, XP Vista & Mac

Cartridges: Easy cartridge access through the front panel. Cartridges with bothe toner and drum in one part make management easier.

HP claims the price of printing black and white pages is no higher than for mono-only printers.
