54 inch plotters using the modular CP ink system which has:

Imaging ink designed to deliver "clear, sharp, brilliant images with precise performance every time".

UV Pigmented Ink. "prints bright, colourful, outdoor lightfast signs and posters with an HP Outdoor Durability Warranty." UV pigmented inks are resistant for at least a year to the UV in direct sunlight.

Printing uses four ink subsystems each with 240 nozzle running at 7.5kHz for imaging ink and 4kHz for UV ink. Cartridges contain 410ml of ink

The 3000CP has HP-GL/2 Windows drivers and AutoCAD drivers for DOS and Windows.

■ Built-in Adobe PostScript Level 3 Raster Image Processor.

■ Automatic color calibration to improve color consistency between jobs.

■ Ink emulation allowing the printer to print jobs intended for devices using standard pre-press color gamuts.

■ PostScript queueing and nesting to reduce media waste.

■ Large and very-complex PostScript file printing.

The 3500CP has PostScript drivers.

A JetDirect interface card is supplied in the MIO slot.

The CP series were nice printers in their day but were superceeded by the DesignJet 5000 which boasted print speeds 5 times faster using "JetExpress" technology based on a one inch wide printhead.
