Fast, large format printer intended for high volume production. Two sizes are available, 42 inch and 60 inch.
Production speeds above 52 m sq per hour - 5 times faster than the CP series.
JetExpress 25mm wide printheads achieve high speed even at 1200dpi resolution. Print quality meets stringent cartographic and photographic requirements.
6 inks for wide colour gamut with CMYKcm colours. 680cc cartridges for unattended printing. Dye based inks for indoor precision imaging and UV ink for outdoor light-fast use.

Consistent colour reproduction using closed-loop colour calibration. The 5000PS automatically calibrates to PANTONE colours, is Apple ColorSync compatible and has offset printing press emulation. Advanced features can be added to either model using an external RIP.
The DesignJet 5500 series is very similar - same engine, paper handling consumables and speed - but a bigger hard disk and a Jetdirect 615n.
Control:
Large self-explanatory control panel. Remote control using WebAccess for job previewing, queue management, ink and media consumption levels and general accounting information.
