The DesignJet 600 is an old but venerable monochrome printer / plotter based on thermal inkjet technology. The DesignJet 600 is the professional workgroup version of the DesigJet 220.

The DesignJet 650C is a colour version
The DesignJet 700 is similar as well but with true 600 dpi resolution and considerably faster printing.
These machines date from 1993 and whilst they may still do a respectable job they are obsolete.

Assisted by a Vacuum Flourescent Display (VFD)
Print Speed:
A1 line diagram in under 3 minutes
Print Resolution:
Basically 300 dpi with an 600 dpi addressable and output enhanced mode. Line error +/-0.015 inches (0.38mm) or +/-0.2% of the specified vector length.
Paper Handling:
A0 and A1 sized cut sheet and roll feed with automatic cutter.
Memory:
Basic 4MB. 2 Slots for 4 or 8MB SIMMs bringing the total to 20MB
Interface:
Parallel, Serial (RS232) and an MIO slot for a JetDirect. Automatic interface switching.
Print Languages:
HP-GL, HP-GL/2, and HP RTL
