HP Laserjet 2000

Launched in March 1987 The laserJet 2000 was a big A3/B network printer. It was much more robust than it's predecessors with a 70,000 page per month rating against the LaserJet's 1,000 page per month rating. It is unlikely that any of these printers are still in use - they would be over 20 years old. If you know differently tell us. Information here came largely from Wikipedia and the unofficial "HP Museum". The printer is based on a Canon LBP-20 20ppm engine. Capable of up to 20 pages per minute A4 and with a monthly print volume up to 70,000 pages.

300 dpi. (The printing industry still uses 300dpi as a base standard)

Paper Handling:

A3 sized (11 x 17 inch) with 2 trays and an optional 2000 sheet bin.

Memory:

1.5MB as standard, expandable in 1MB increments to 5.5MB.

Laserjet+ LaserJet II software compatability. In some ways the HP LJ 2000 remains a very capable machine. Its limits are: the 300 dpi print quality - print will look crude without much greyscale. However typical use at the time was desk-top publishing standard text, not photographic pictures. Limited memory - insufficient for graphics on duplex A3 pages.
