HP Laserjet M3027MFP and M3035MFP

The LaserJet M3027MFP (CB416A) and M3035MFP (CC476A) provide print, copy, fax and digital sending capabilities at speeds suiting "workteams". The print mechanism is monochrome but the scanner supports colour.

The M3027MFP works at up to 27 pages per minute letter and the M3035MFP at 35 pages per minute. A4 performance is fractionally slower at 25ppm.

All models have Network connection and USB. There is also an open EIO slot. Unusually in a printer all models also have a 40GB hard disk which supports security features such as print on PIN as well as document capture and digital sending abilities.

  • CC478A - HP LaserJet M3027 MFP - 27 ppm, no fax, no duplex
  • CC479A - HP LaserJet M3027X MFP - 27 ppm, with fax and duplex
  • CB416A, CB417A - other codes.
  • CC476A - HP LaserJet M3035 MFP - 35 ppm, duplex
  • CC477A - HP LaserJet M3035xs MFP - 35 ppm, fax, duplex and extra tray and a 20 sheet stapler.
  • CB414A, CB415A - other codes.

Secure printing protects documents in several ways. Print jobs can be held and released on entry of a 4 digit user PIN number. Network Authentication using LDAP allows administrators to limit facilities depending on user log in information. Secure IPP, HTTPS and IPsec give network security. HP Universal Print Driver gives easy installation and support. The print engine is reliable, based on the long-lasting LJ2400 and it's updated version the P3005. This new family of MFPs launched in November 2006. The LaserJet M5025MFP and M5035MFP are A3 multifunction printers with very similar capabilities to this series, but based on the LJ5200 engine. Current from November 2006.

Control:

Intuitive control panel suited to the machines photocopier and fax roll. An LCD touch-screen graphical display, numeric keypad, start and stop buttons.

Duty Cycle:

HP claim a capability up to 75,000 pages per month. The recommended monthly print volume is 2,000 to 6,000 pages.

1200 x 1200 dpi and Resolution Enhancement technology "REt".

27 or 35 pages per minute according to model. First page out in less than 10 seconds.

Scanner Abilities:

Flatbed scanner with a 50 sheet reversing ADF. The M3027X has 2-sided copying. Scanner resolution is 600x600dpi with 96 bit depth (?) and 256 level greyscale. Scanning is at 25 inches per minute for letter sized 600x300 mono. Maximum scan size is 8.5 x 14 inches.

Send to mail and to network folder are standard. Digital sending to PDF, TIFF, PCL and MTIFF is an option, as is HP Autostore.

Copy Abilities:

Up to 999 copies. Zoom from 25% to 400%. Duplex copying. Many document enhancements.

Paper Handling:

Paper path handling A4 and letter from a multifunction tray and up to 2 others.

Tray 1:Fold-down multipurpose tray with capacity for 100 sheets. Paper sizes 3x5 to 8.5x14 inches.

Tray 2:500 sheet tray built in under the printer. Paper sizes.

Duplex:

Built in on all but the basic M3027MFP.

Processor:

400MHz

Memory:

256 MB DDR RAM (fixed) expandable to 512MB via a DDR DIMM slot. Memory Enhancement technology "MEt" is used to pack data into the available memory space. All models have a 40GB hard disk for print job storage.

Interface:

A JetDirect inside 10/100 Base-T port is built in on all models. There is also a Foreign Interface Harness (FIH) port.

The is a USB type B port for direct connection to a nearby PC if this is required. There is also a type A USB port for adding accessories to the printer - although there is limited choice at present. There is one open EIO slot.

PCL 5, PCL 6, HP PostScript level 3 emulation. PDF 1.5.

System Compatability:

To get the full range of facilities provided users will need the supported operating systems - currently Mac OS X v 10.4 or higher; Windows XP Home; Windows XP Professional. The printer has a PostScript emulation and will work with most operating systems.
