HP Photosmart Pro B8850 Photo Printer (Q7161A)

A relatively low cost 8-colour inkjet photo printer with an A3+ (13 x 19 inch) paper path. Aimed at affordability for the home enthusiast the B8850 also suits the professional studio and production of graphic art such as marketing material. For instance it has a 200 sheet main tray capacity to minimize disruption to workflow.

Thermal inkjet using 8 colours and high resolution for very good photographic reproduction. Inks used are HP Vivera pigment types (HP 38 series) giving great colour stability

Colours used are Matte Black, Photo Black, Light Grey, Cyan, Light Cyan, Magenta, Light Magenta, and Yellow.

There are four separate printheads from the HP 70 series. The printer achieves reasonable speed using 1056 ink nozzles per colour, including black.

HP Electrostatic Drop Detection (NEDD) monitors printhead nozzles and controls the cleaning cycle to minimise ink wastage.

Using HP Advanced Photo Paper gives resistance against smudging, water and humidity. With the pigment inks documents should last essentially unchanged for 200 years.

Media up to 0.7mm thick. Ships with HP Photosmart Essential Software and HP Photosmart ProPrint plugin for Adobe PhotoShop for Microsoft Windows and Apple Macintosh. Colour management tools support Adobe RGB, sRGB and ICC profiles for colour control. There is a built in densitometer to automatically calibrate the printer. The HP Photosmart Pro B9180 (Q5736A) is the fully professional version of this printer with a fuller set of colour management tools and Ethernet.
