EIO Accessories
The P4014 series were one of the last to have an EIO slot. EIO slots are used for peripherals such as JetDirect network cards, parallel and serial cards. The only likely peripheral these days is a hard disk.
Reliable Remanufactured Cartridges
One of the merits of the P4014 against a new printer is the low cost of good re-manufactured cartridges.

The EIO accessory card in slot [X] has encountered a critical error.
Turn the product off and then on.
Turn the product off, reseat the EIO accessory in slot [X], and then turn the product on.
Turn the product off, remove the EIO accessory from slot [X], install it in a different EIO slot, and then turn the product on.
Replace the EIO accessory in slot [X].
HP manuals generally give reasonable advice but in this case you can't change the EIO slot because the P4014 series only have one slot.
On the whole, the printer will still work without an EIO accessory. Does the fault move with the accessory if you try it in a different printer?
The error can also happen for problems withe the built in or "embedded" JetDirect. Do the link/speed and traffic lights work? Try the age old IT response, turn it off and turn it on again.
