HP RM1-4550 right cover for HP P4015 & P4515 Printers.

HP Part RM1-4550 is the black plastic right cover for the P4015 and P4515 printers. It is basically square with a missing section where the formatter cover goes and the air-vents for the fans on that side. It counts as an "assembly" in HP terms because the power-switch toggle and the engine test switch button are mounted in it.

The P4014 takes RM1-5449 which is mechanically similar (identical) but grey-white in colour.

The cover is held in place by the top cover RM1-4552 and by clips around the rear and bottom edges.

There are no known faults that would require a new cover except some sort of cosmetic damage or breakage. Either seem to be rare.

It looks as though there has been a rework of the cover re-coding it to RM1-4550-010CN but we don't know the details. The part is now primarily known as RM1-4550 or RM1-4550-010CN

Icecat says the EAN/UPC for RM1-4550-010CN is 5711045491665 and identifies it as a chassis component. There had been 6 product views when we checked - not the lowest ever seen but an indication of this parts low importance as a spare.

The part is intended cosmetically for the P4015 and P4515 with their distinctive black and white look.

Prices noted are for a new item without tax. The list is as encountered. We haven't bothered with currency conversion - half of our readers are outside the UK and are more interested in dollar prices.

Non of the above gave any information beyond what is in Partsurfer. The exercise shows it is easily possible to pay 4 times the new price for the item for a refurb.

Supply Situation

This kind of item has one global manufacturer and is not cloned. It seems unlikely that any compatible manufacturer would attempt to make a component of this complexity and small market profile.

In August 2013 these parts are available new and refurbished. The meaning of the word "refurbished" is something like cleaned and not clearly cosmetically innadequate for a plastic part like this.

The part is listed by a couple of distributors, they don't hold stock but can probably get it from HP on 3-5 day lead time. One distributor has a refurb for under £10. We think demand for the part will be very low.

We can provide these parts when required. The price is about £10 for a refurb which largely reflects the logistics of obtaining one. A new item will be about £35 with about 5 days lead-time.

Price and availability are guidelines, our prices change with distribution lists - see the catalog. Stock numbers indicate there is almost no call for the part.
