HP RM1-4552 for HP P4015 and P4515 Series Printers.

The RM1-4552 part is the Top Cover for use in the HP Laserjet P4015 and P4515Printer. Almost the entire top is included except for the accessory slot cover RC2-2459 and control panel RM1-5059.

The P4014 uses a different part number RM1-5250

The top cover is a big grey-white plastic assembly that includes the cartridge door but does not include the accessory cover.

The top cover may not seem very important but the P4015/P4515 cover is shaped to accomodate the larger CC364X cartridge giving significantly lower prices per page. However this isn't the only change needed. The formatter needs changing as well.

The cartridge door is quite robustly made but is capable of being damaged, perhaps particularly in the hinge area.

Warranty: Parts of this kind are usually supplied with a 90 day return to base warranty. However this kind of part is typically sourced second hand - it should be cosmetically acceptable but may not be perfect.

The revisions suggest that some weakness or other need for variation has been addressed.

Icecat says RM1-4552-040CN and one GTIN (EAN/UPC) 5711045599941 identified as a chassis component. When we looked in August 2013 there had been 3 product views so this part raised scarcely any interest.

This part is known as RM1-4552-000CN, RM1-4552-020CN and RM1-4552-040CN as well as the short code RM1-4552.

Part RM1-4552 is intended for the P4015 and P4515 only. The P4014 uses RM1-5250.

A Google Query on RM1-4552 (in quotes") in August 2013 gave about 6,620 results (0.30 seconds) with the first in organic search being as follows:

Prices noted are for a new item, one off, without tax. The list is as encountered. We haven't bothered with currency conversion - half of our readers are outside the UK and are more interested in dollar prices.

A few pages here do not have prices - a few with P & A on request and page not found - no helpful blogs on this part. All the rest in the list were merely vendors giving no more information than found in the HP brochure.

The top cover is secured with four screws, two under the cartridge lid and two under the accessory cover. With some easing of clips it then lifts away.

Supply Situation

This kind of device usually has one global manufacturer. It would seem unlikely that any compatible manufacturer would attempt to make a component of this complexity and small market profile ... or it would be except that changing the top cover is part of the job of converting a P4014 to run like a P4515 - so it is just possible that there are clone products although we don't see any evidence for it.

The new part is listed by a couple of distributors but they don't hold stock. The refurbished part is listed by one distributor who shows low stock levels. We think demand for the part will be very low.
