Complete 4-in-1 monochrome office copy / print solution, including fax

A4 mono laser printer based multifunction printer with an automatic duplex unit as standard and a network option.

The ability to print double-sided saves money and gives more professional documents. All these printers have an engine resolution of 1200x1200 dpi which Lexmark say gives "2400 quality".

The Lexmark X264dn, X363dn and X364dn are all closely related. As usually happens there are more features on machines with higher numbers.

These printers use an engine very similar to the E260, E360, E460 printers. The toner cartridges aren't the same but the photoconductor is. There isn't a direct mapping between numbers, the X264 is not simply an E260 with a scanner on top - its actually more like an E360.

The Lexmark X463, 464 and 466 multifunctions use the same print engine. One notable extra feature is a big colour screen for user interaction.

Lexmark's product naming is a bit confusing at times: the X264, X363 and X364 are closely related. The X463, X464 and X466 use the same engine and have similar specs for throughput.

Lexmark probably bet that the eye-catching colour screen on the X463 series will persuade people to trade up but the X264dn, X363dn, X364dn and X364dw are capable, low cost printer / copiers.

About The X364:

4-in-1 multifunction laser printer and scanner. The X364 is one of the most capable versions of the X264, X363, X463, X464, X466 family. Competitors from other manufacturers include the HP LaserJet M2727nf and the Brother MFC-8860DN.

2-line 128 x 32 pixel backlit LCD gray scale display. Conveys clear maintenance instructions.

Software support by Lexmark Scan Center for creating digital documents and integrating them into the work-flow. Preview images and save them to multiple formats. Scan to email, to a shared drive or to a business application. Built in OCR.

Uses the Lexmark Universal Driver for easy multi-printer deployment. Lexmark MarkVision Professional provides remote management.

Duty Cycle:

Maximum monthly volume 80,000 pages per month. Recommended volume 750 to 5,000 pages per month.

The X264 is a bit slower at 30ppm.

Scanner Abilities:

Flatbed scanner with ADF on the X240 and RADF for duplex scanning on other printers in the series. Scan resolution is 600x600 black. Scan depth for colour is 24 bit.

Fax Abilities:

The X264, X464 and X466 have fax capabilities. Modem speed is 33.6Kbps.

Lexmark say "1200 Image Quality, 1200 x 1200 dpi, 2400 Image Quality, 600 x 600 dpi" on their publicity PDF. Engine maximum resolution seems to be 1200x1200 dpi but using combination and dot size the apparent quality of the print can be boosted to look like 2400dpi.

These printers use a seperate toner and photoconductor. this approach should give lower printing costs.

Average standard page yields are given in accordance with ISO/IEC 19752; a 5% page cover is assumed.

As usual with Lexmark there is a standard cartridge at a normal price for such things and a return program cartridge where Lexmark give a lower purchase price in return for the customer's agreement to return the cartridge to them for recycling.
